Frequently Asked Questions

We would like to have a religious wedding ceremony, are you able to do that? No,  I am an ordained, non-denominational minister and specialize secular ceremonies. I do not perform religious ceremonies. I don’t want to mention (God, religion, anything spiritual, etc.) in my ceremony. Is that okay? Definitely! I am happy to work with you to create a custom ceremony that is authentic to you and your beliefs, whatever they may be. Do you perform same sex weddings? Yes! I am happy to marry any couple who wants to be united in marriage. Do we need a marriage license? In order to wed, couples must apply for and obtain a valid Michigan marriage license from your local county clerk’s office.  It is the couple's responsibility to obtain the marriage license. When is my final payment due? The 50% balance payment is due no later than 30 days prior to the wedding date. Deposits and payments are to be made via PayPal (jeffereyd@outlook.com) What if I have to change my start time or wedding date? While I try to be as flexible as possible in accommodating changes, I cannot guarantee my availability for a date or time change. Please let me know as soon as possible if you plan to change your wedding date or time so I can try to find a solution for you. Will you come to our wedding rehearsal? No. Generally the officiant is not needed at the rehearsal. You’ll be rehearsing walking in, where you will stand, and how you walk out after the ceremony. Once you are standing in front of me I walk everyone through the ceremony so it isn’t necessary to rehearse that beforehand. May we write our own wedding vows? Yes. The vows that you say may be your own words or you may use the completed ceremony that I will provide. Is there a Service Agreement or Contract? Yes, I do require a straightforward Wedding Officiant Contract that outlines the details of your ceremony and the terms of our agreement. This is designed to establish a clear written understanding of my services for your ceremony and to help everyone feel assured that all the details are covered. A contract is e-mailed to you within 48 hours of you booking your date. All of this sounds great! How can we move forward with booking you for our wedding? Please check out my availability calendar then fill out the form on our Contact page. Once I receive your information, I will e- mail you with a contract. To book me as your officiant, simply sign the digital contract and make a 50% deposit and you’re all set! What if I have another question you haven’t answered here? Email me at jeffereyd@outlook.com or call me at (586) 741-1237 and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
